A brief introduction

Kenzie Glover

I'm a writer based in the UK who ironically can't write an introduction at all. I love all forms of art, whether that's films, games, music, books or even cave paintings at this point. I'd love to create something that emotionally resonates with someone in the same way some of my favourite pieces of art have resonated with me. I hope you enjoy what you see on this website and if anything is particularly great (or awful) then don't hesitate to contact me!

Inspirations

Below are some titles that deeply inspire what I write, and why.

Before Sunrise

Film directed by Richard Linklater and written by Richard Linklater and Kim Krizan.

A story of two characters just talking. This is the most prime example of stories I want to tell. It's lowkey, beautiful and so moving by doing so little. Just a brilliant script and brilliant performances from two actors.

Your Name

Film directed by Makoto Shinkai and written by Makoto Shinkai.

Probably my favourite movie ever? Not solely the script but still an essential part that works so wonderfully. Just a beautiful romance that moves me to tears after years of watching it, I want to write something that moves people the way this film moves me.

Monster

Film directed by Hirokazu Kore-Eda and written by
Yûji Sakamoto.

A brilliantly well structured story that shapes the viewer's perspective constantly. Another script that feels lowkey and real, with characters that have layers and a story that doesn't over-explain itself. It's beautiful, haunting and gorgeous.

Y Tu Mamá También

Film directed by Alfonso Cuarón and written by Alfonso Cuarón and Carlos Cuarón.

Deep, nuanced characters that form complex relationships around romance and each other. It's a script that makes three characters feel real, honest and flawed in their own ways.

Drive My Car

Film directed by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi and written by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi,
Haruki Murakami and Takamasa Ôe.

A film that is essentially 3 hours of characters talking. It feels so moving while doing so little in my opinion. I love how anti-climactic everything feels in this film, mirroring real life.

Babylon

Film directed by Damien Chazelle and written by Damien Chazelle.

Deeply inspiring movie purely because of its absolute crazy, wild energy. A director being given awards by Hollywood to then make a movie that's a big middle finger to the industry is quite an incredible statement in itself. Also manages small-scale character studies alongside a bombastic, set-piece driven blockbuster film.

Dune

Book written by Frank Herbet

Possibly the most important sci-fi book ever written. Incredibly rewarding with so many complex and fascinating ideas that explore every aspect of human nature.

Conversations With Friends

Book written by Sally Rooney

Super funny when it needs to be and super serious when it needs to be. Tells a story around two characters who feel genuine, real and flawed in their own ways.
